Law Body
CHAP. 135.—An ACT to provide for the registration of the voters of
the counties of Lee and Buchanan.
Approved February 27, 1879.
Whereas the registration books for the counties of Lee and
Buchanan have become so much defaced and mutilated by use
as to render the elections held in these counties irregular and
uncertain; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
the duty of the county courts of the counties of Lee and Buch-
anan, within sixty days after the passage of this act, to order
the registration books of the said counties to be transcribed by
the registrars, or, in their discretion, to order a new registration
of the qualified voters of the county, which shall be in accord-
ance with the general registration laws of the state. The reg-
istrars shall receive for their services, under this act, such sum
as the court may deem reasonable, not to exceed the fees now
paid for similar services, which shall be paid out of the county
treasury, and the copies or registration so made shall have the
same force, virtue and effect,‘as though the same had been
under the general registration laws of the state.
2. The seeretary of the commonwealth shall furnish the clerks
of the county courts of Lee and Buchanan counties so many
registration books as may be necessary to carry out the pro.
visions of this act.
8. This act shall be in force from its passaze.
