CHAP. 100.—JOINT RESOLUTION recognizing the value of re-

ligious instruction in the penitentiary,
Approved February 15, 1879.

Resolved, That in rebuilding the work-shops in the Virginia
penitentiary, arrangements be made for the accommodation of
the prisoners on the Sabbatii day in the religious services con-
ducted by the chaplain and the Sunday-school association of
said penitentiary, recoginizing, as this general assembly does,
the great value of the religious instruction given to the con-
victs for years past by gentlemen who have voluntarily con-
tributed their time and service to that end.
