Chap. 99.—An ACT for the relief of John H. Silvers, late township
collector of Auburn township, in Montgomery county, and his
sureties.
Approved February 22, 1878.
1. Be it-enacted by the yeneral assembly of Virginia, That
John H. Silvers, late township collector of Auburn township
in Montgomery county; Thomas D. Childress and Charles
Childress, sureties of said Silvers as collector aforesaid, be
and they are hereby released from the damages which were
adjudged against them by Montgomery circuit court at its
September term, eighteen hundred and seventy-four, on the
sum of four bundred and ninety dollars and twenty-nine
cents, due the commonwealth of Virginia.
2. That the board of supervisors of Montgomery county be
and they are directed to release said persons from the damages
which were adjudged against them by said court at its Sep-
tember term, eigbteen hundred and seventy-four, on the sum
of eight hundred and forty-five dollars and nine cents, in
favor of the commonwealth for the benefit of said county.
3. Nothing in this act shall be construed to release the said
persons, or either of them, from the payment of the said
principal sums, with interest thereon at six per centum per
annum from June tenth, eighteen hundred and seventy-four,
till paid, and all costs. And the said persons shall pay the
same before they are entitled to the benefits of the releases
hereinbefore provided for. On any execution that maybe
issued on said judgments, the clerk shall endorse: “This
execution may be discharged by the payment of the princi-
pal, with interest thereon at six per centum per annum from
June tenth, eighteen hundred and seventy-four, till paid, and
costs.”
4. This act shall be in force from ita passage.
