Chap. 96.—An ACT to repeal an act entitled an act for the protection
of sheep in the county of Rockbridge, approved March 5, 1877, and
to provide for the disposition of the taxes and levies collected or
assessed under the same. .
Approved February 21, 1878.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That an act en-
titled an act for the protection of sheep in the county of
Rockbridge, approved March fifth, eighteen hundred and
seventy-seven, be and tbe same is hereby repealed, and the
proceeds of all taxes and levies heretofore assessed and col-
lected, or hereafter collected under the said act, shall be paid
into the county treasury, subject to the order of the board
of supervisors of said county.
2. It shall be the duty of the board of supervisors, upon
the passage of this act, or as soon thereafter as possible, to
ascertain the amount of taxes levied in the respective dis-
tricts under the said act of March fifth, eighteen hundred
and seventy-seven, and apportion out to the commissioners
of roads in proportion to the sum collected in their respec-
tive districts.
3. It shall be the duty of said road commissioners, as soon
as said fund is received from the treasurer by order of the
supervisors, to have the same jucliciously expended in repair-
ing the damages to the public roads, caused by the recent
flood of eighteen hundred and seventy-seven: provided that
nothing herein contained shall prevent the payment of pre-
miums for scalps of wild animals under said act for the year
for which said taxes were assessed.
4, This act shall be in force from its passage.
