Chap. 57.—An ACT to prevent the sale of cotton between certain
hours.
Approved February 6, 1878.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be unlawful for any person or persons, in the coun-
ties of Greensville and Sussex, to buy, sell, deliver, or secure
for a price, or any reward whatever, any unpacked lint cot-
ton, or any cotton in seed, brought or carried in a basket,
hamper, or sheet, or in any manner whatever, where the
quantity is less than is usually baled, or is not baled, between
the times of sunset and sunrise.
2. That any person offending against the provisions of this
act shall be deemed and held euilty of a misdemeanor, and,
on conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine not exceed-
ing one hundred dollars,
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
