Chap. 49.—An ACT to amend the third section of an act to incorpo-
rate St. Paul’s Church Home, passed February 19, 1861.
Approved January 29, 1X78.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the third section of the charter of Saint Paul’s church home,
approved February nineteenth, eighteen handred and sixty-
one, be amended and re- enacted so as to read as follows :
§ 3. The said corporators, or the said board of managers,
shall have the right to contract with the father, or if there
be no father, with the mother, or if there be. neither father
or mother, with the guardian of any infant child under the
age of eighteen years, for the care, education, and mainte-
nance of such child until he or she attains the age of eigh-
teen years, and such contract shall be binding on “the parties
thereto, and on such ecbild, and shall confer on said corpora-
tion the sole and entire control of such child until he or she
attains the age of eighteen: provided that the said corpora-
tion shall furnish proper maintenance and shall bestow a
good English education and proper moral and religious in-
struction on such child; and the said corporation is author-
ized and empowered to contract with suitable persons for
such maintenance, education, and instruction for such child,
reserving to itself in said contract a continued supervision
over such child, with power and authority, at any time and
without previous notice, to cancel such contract and to re-
assume and retake the custody and care of such child.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
