Chap. 309.—An ACT to authorize the trustees of certain school prop-
erty in the town of Marion, Smyth county, to make a good and suf-
ficient title to M. E. church, South, of a portion of the school lot.
Approved March 14, 1878.
Whereas it is represented to the general assembly of Vir-
ginia, that G. W. Jones, H. C. Jones, J. P. Sheffey, J. H.
Francis, G. H. Fudge, J. F. Pendleton, A. G. Pendleton, and
John 8. Copenhaver, trustees of a certain school lot in the
town of Marion, lying north of, and contiguous to the Meth-
odist Episcopal church, South, in said town, have sold a por-
tion of said lot to the authorities of said church, for the pur-
pose of enabling said church to improve its property, and
for the purpose Pot reinvesting proceeds of said sale for the
public good of the town:
1. Be it therefore enacted, That the sale made by the trus-
tees of ‘the school property is hereby ratified and confirmed
in accordance with all the terms, stipulations, and covenants
of the contract of sale, and the proceeds to be invested by
the trustees in whatever, in their judement, will contribute
to the weneral welfare of the town.
2. ‘That whenever the terms of such sale have been fully
complied with to the satisfaction of the trustees, it shall be
the duty of the trustees to convey said property by sufficient
deed with special warranty.
3. The trustees of the school property, whenever they
think it advisable, may sell the remainder of said property:
provided they turn over the proceeds of said sale to the
Marion hich school.
4, This act shall be in force from its passage.
