Chap. 288.—An ACT to authorize Samuel J. Shields and Brother to
construct a bridge across Occahannock creek, in Accomac county.
Approved March 14, 1878.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
Samuel J. Shields and Jobn T. Shields, of Accomac county,
trading under the name and style of Shields and Brother,
their heirs and assigns, shall be and are hereby authorized
to erect and construct, at their own expense, a bridge across
the head of Occahannock creek, beginning at a point on E.
K. Shields’ land, on the north side of said creek, and extend-
ing across said creek from said point to the opposite of said
creek till it strikes the foot of the county road, running down
to the opposite side of said creek from Bell Haven: provided
that said bridge shall not obstruct or impair the free naviga-
tion of said creek: and provided also, that this act shall at
all times be under the control of the general assembly, and
may be amended or repealed, as they may deem proper.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
