Chap. 27.—An ACT to amend and re-enact the 6th section of an act
. entitled an act to revise the laws relating to the inspection of tobacco,
and warehouse charges, and to insure the proper delivery of tobacco
to the consignees, and to repeal all acts on the subject which were in
force on the lst January, 1877, approved April 4th, 1877.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the sixth sec-
tion of the act approved April fourth, eighteen hundred and sev-
enty-seven, entitled an act to revise the laws relating to the in-
spection of tobacco and warehouse charges, and to ensure
the proper delivery of tobacco to the consignees, and to re-
peal all acts on the subject which were in force on the first
January, eighteen hundred and seventy-reven, be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows: |
§6. That the term of said samplers shall commence on the
first day of October next succeeding such appointment, and
continue for four years, and until their successors are quali-
fied: except and provided, that, as to the first appointment
of samplers to be made under said act by the governor with
the advice and consent of the Senate, in January or Febru.
ary, eighteen hundred and seventy- eight, it shall take effect
from the date of the qualifications of the appointees respec-
tively: and provided, further, that as to the samplers to be
appointed in January or February, eighteen hundred and
aeventy-cight, as aforesaid, they are required by the terms of
this act to qualify and enter upon the discharge of the duties
of samplers of tobacco at their respective warehouses as soon
as practicable after their appointment: and provided further,
that until the samplers of tobacco, to be appointed in Janu-
ary or February, cighteen hundred and seventy-eight, are
qualified, the occupants or lessees of the various public ware-
houses throughout the state, who are now discharging the
dutics of samplers or inspectors of tobacco, shall continue to
discharge those duties.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
