Chap. 269.—An ACT to authorize the city of Manchester to purchase
Mayo’s bridge.
Approved March 14, 1878.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the judge
of the hustings court of the city of Manchester shall cause
to be taken the sense of the qualified voters of the said city,
at the next general election in May, as to whether or not the
said city shall purchase the bridge over the James river
known as Mayo’s bridge, and to that end due notice shall be
given by the said judge, published in one or more papers
published in said city, notifying the said voters that a poll
will be opened at said general election in May, for the pur-
pose of determining whether it is the will of the people of
anchester that such purchase shall be made: provided that
in ordering and conducting the election herein provided for,
the provisions of the sixty-first chapter of the Code of eigh-
teen hundred and seventy-three, shall in all respects be
adhered to: and provided further that tbe sum voted for
shall not exceed the sum of one hundred thousand dollars.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
