Chap. 262.—_JOINT RESOLUTION requesting Congress to grant
pensions to the soldiers and sailors, and tne widows of the soldiers
and sailors, of the Mexican war.

Whereas the Norfolk and Portsmouth Mexican veterans’
association, have petitioned the general assembly to urge
upon congress the passage of an act conferring pensions on
the soldiers and sailors of the Mexican war, and on the
widows of said soldiers and sailors; therefore, be it
1. Resolved by the general assembly, That the object of
the said association is heartily approved, and our senators
are instructed and our representatives are requested to use
all proper efforts to secure the passage of a bill recognizing
substantially, by the granting of pensions to the survivors,
the heroic conduct, the great sacrifices, and the results
achieved by our gallant soldiers and sailors daring the war
with Mexico.
2. Resolved, That the governor be requested to communi-
cate these resolutions to our senators and representatives in
congress.
