Chap. 177.—An ACT for the relief of the heirs of James Baynes and
John B. Baynes, deceased, late of the firm of James Baynes and Son,
of Baltimore, Maryland.
Approved March 11, 1878.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts be and he is hereby ‘lirected
to issue his warrant on the treasury, payable out of any
money therein not otherwise appropriated by law, in favor
of George B. Baynes, Mary Stewart, Sarah C. Hardesty, and
James P. Baynes, the heirs-at-law of the late James Baynes
and John B. Baynes, formerly of Baltimore city, in the state
of Maryland, where they traded under the firm name of
James Baynes and Son, both of whom are now deceased, for
the sum of four hundred and twenty-seven dolJars and forty-
five cents, with interest thereon at the rate of six per centum
per annum from the tenth day of April, eighteon hundred
and sixty-five, until paid, that being the amount which said
parties are willing to receive in full discharge of the claim
of James Baynes and Son against the commonwealth at the
time of their dissolution by death, for wool purchased of
them on the thirty-first day of October, eighteen hundred
and sixty, by the gencral agent and superintendent of the
penitentiary of Virginia for the use of said penitentiary.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
