Chap. 171.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section Lof an act entitled
an act to extend the time for repairing and rebuilding mills and ma-
chinery burned during the war, approved April 50, 1874.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the first
section of an act entitled an act to extend the time for re-
pairing and rebuilding mills and machinery burned during
the war, approved April thirtieth, cighteen hundred and
seventy-lour, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as fol-
lows
§ 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the owner
or tenant of any mills, mill. dam, toll-bridge, manufacturing
machine, or engine, which may have been “destroyed by fire
or otherwise, or may have become unfit for use during the
late civil war, or may bave been destroyed or rendered unfit
for use by the flood of the year eighteen hundred and seventy, |
or by any subsequent flood, shall have two years from the
first day of March, eighteen hundred and seventy-eight, in
which to begin, and five years from said date in which to
finish the rebuilding or repairing of the same, without being
subjected to the forteitures provided by law.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
