Chap. 162.—An ACT to authorize the board of trustees for Blue run
colored Baptist church, in Orange county, to sell their church pro-
perty, and invest proceeds in a new church.
Approved March 7, 1878.
It being represented to the general assembly that the
cburch building known as Blue run colored Baptist church,
in the county of Orange, is ineligible and not suited to
accommodate the congregation now worshipping there, and
that the said congregation is desirous to se]l said church
building and lot upon whivh it stands, in order to purchase
a new site upon which to erect a new house of worship in,
some more eligible place; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, that the board
of trastees for the Blue run colored Baptist church, in
Orange county, be and they are hereby authorized and em-
powered to sell the church building in which said congrega-
tion now worship, and the lot of land npon which it stands,
and upon such sale being made and ratified by a majority
of the congregation aforesaid, the said board of trustees
shall proceed to invest the proceeds arising from said sale in
another lot of land more eligible and better suited for the
purposes of said congregation, upon which they shall pro-
ceed to erect or have crected a new church building for the
use and benefit of said congregation as a place of worship ;
and said trustees shall invest the entire fund arising from the
sale aforesaid in the purchase and erection of a church as
aforesaid.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
