Chap. 94.—An ACT to incorporate the Mutual Home Association, of
ynuchburg.
Approved February 17, 1877.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That Richard
Pollard, William A. Hefferman, R. M. Chambers, Robert S.
Payne, Junior, Camillas Christian, R. H. T. Adams, A. F.
Biggers, E. R. Stearrs, A. M. Davies, and such persons as
they may associate with them, be, and they are hereby, con-
stituted a body politic and corporate, under the name and
style of The Mutual Home Association of Lynchburg.
2. The capital stock of said association shall be divided
into shares of twenty-five dollars each. The liability of mem-
bers shall be limited to unpaid portion of stock, and the
assessment and fines now, or which may be, provided for by
the constitution and by-laws of the association.
3. The object of said association shall be to purchase and
improve real estate, not exceeding twenty thousand acres of
land in the city of Lynchburg or its vicinity, in the counties
of Campbell, Bedford, or Amherst; and the division of the
same into lots, and distribution thereof amongst its members
according to such rules and regulations as it may adopt, and
tothis end it is hereby authorized to adopt a constitution and
by-laws; to buy, sell, improve, divide, and distribute real es-
tate; to elect such officers as it may see fit; to have an office
in the city of Lynchburg; to have a common seal; to borrow
and loan money on real estate; and to do any other act to
carry out the purposes of this charter not inconsistent with
the laws of this state.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
