Chap. 53.—JOINT RESOLUTION in reference to the selection of a.
suitable site for locating an asylum for the colored insane of the state.
Approved February 6, 1877.
Whereas, the lease of the Central lunatic asylum for the
colored insane of the state, will expire on the thirty-firat day
of December, eighteen hundred and seventy-nine, and it is
deemed advisable that the general assembly at its present
session should take steps for locating and constructing a per-
manent asylum for that class of insane persons; therefore,
Resolved (the House of Delegates concurring), That R. H.
Cox, G. H. Jordan, J. G. Cabell, A. I. Clark, W. E. Hinton,
Thomas M. Dunn, W. A. Witcher, John T. Lovell, and James
S. Greever be and they are hereby constituted a commission,
any five of whom may act, whose duty it shall be forthwith
to enquire for and ascertain the most eligible site for the loca-
tion and construction of such asylum, baving reference in their
selection to any inducements that may be offered in the way
of donations of grounds, buildings, or otherwise, and to re-
port the result of their nxaminations and enquiries, with the
facts tending to show the propriety thereof, to this general
assembly on or before the first day of March next.
