Chap. 343.—An ACT requesting the governor to appoint two inspecturs
of tobacco for the public warehouse in the city of Richmond.
Approved April 4, 1877.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the gover-
nor be requested to appoint, in the month of August or Sep-
tember next, two inspectors of tobacco for the public ware-
house in the city of Richmond, who shall, subject to and
under the provisions of the law, as embodied in chapter
sighty-five of the Code of Virginia of eighteen hundred and
seventy-three, perform the duties of tobacco inspectors. If
in the opinion of the governor, it shall be deemed best for
the interests of the state to tease the said warchouse to the
highest bidder, after giving duc notice thereof, at the expi-
ration of the present lease, he may do so for a term not ex-
ceeding ten years, upon such conditions as will require the
said warehouse to be kept open as a public warehouse, to be
governed by the goneral laws concerning the inspection or
sampling of tobacco; also, if he should deem it expedient,
upon condition that the rents of the said warehouse shall be
applied to the payment of such amount as may be ascer-
tained to be due to the lessees for sheds or other improve-
ments made by them in pursuance of the existing lease,
provided the inspectors to be appointed under this act shall
hold their offices for the term of four years.
2. This act shall be in force from and after its passage.
