Chap. 291.—An ACT authorizing the Board of Supervisors of Orange
and Madison counties to become the purchasers of such parts of any
turnpike road as may lie within the limits of said counties.
Approved April 2, 1877.
/ 1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the board of supervisors of the counties of Orange and Mad-
‘ison be and they are hereby authorized (should they deem it
judicious so to do) to bid for and become the purchasers of,
for and in bebalf of the counties of Orange and Madison, of
such part of any turnpike or Macadamized road as may :ie
within the limits of said counties sold under the decree or
order of any court to enforce liens therein, or for other pur-
poses; and thereupon said counties shall succeed to all rights,
franchisos and claims of said company for such part of the
said road so purchased, and may, in the discretion of said
board, use the same, either as a turnpike road, by complying
with all the general provisions of laws in regard to turnpike
roads, or a8 8 common county road; and in tho latter case,
tbe same shail be kept in order as other county roads.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
