Chap. 261.—An ACT requiring the county judge of Stafford to submit
the question of continuing or repealing the fence law to the voters of
Aquia district, in said county.
Approved April 2, 1877.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
the duty of the judge of the county court of Stafford, in
Aquia district, in said county, to order the several ofhcers
conducting elections in such district at the times and places
for holding the first general election thereafter, to prepare a
separate ballot-box for such voting precincts, in which shall
be deposited the ballots of the then qualified voters, who
shall desire to vote upon the question of continuing or re-
peaiing the present fence law in said district. The said bal-
lots shall be respectively as follows: provided that the notice
of the time and places of voting upon said question shall be
given by postiig the same at the front door of the court-
house of said county, and at each voting precinct in said dis-
trict.
2. The manner of receiving and canvassing the ballots cast
at such election on said question, and making returns and
abstracts of the result thereof, shall conform in all respects
to the regulations prescribed by the general election law of
this state, except that the certificates of the judges of elec-
tion shall be as follows: .
We hereby certify that at the election held
votes were cast for present fence law, and votes were
cast against present fence law.

3. If from such returns and abstracts of votes cast on the
question of repealing said act, it shall appear that three-fifths
of the qualified voters of ‘the district voting upon the ques-
tion are in favor of repealing the act, and that said three-
fifths includes a majority of the votes cast by freebolders, then
it shall be the duty of the county court to declare all acts in
conflict with this, to be inoperative and repealed in said
township: provided however, that said repeal shall not take
effect until the expiration of two years from the passage
of this act.
4, This act shall be in force from its passage.
