Chap. 22.—An ACT to incorporatethe Norfolk and Brambleton railroad
company.
Approved January 13, 1877.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That J. ¥. B.
Marshall, Thomas Baltimore, Orlando Windsor, William S.
Wilkinson, J. G. Pollard, R. W. Byrd, G. E. Bowder, and
Francis Richardson be, and they are hereby, constituted a
body politic and corporate by the name and style of The
Norfolk and Brambleton Railroad Company, and shall have
authority to construct and equip a railway, and to run cars
thereon by horse or mule power for the conveyance of pas-
sengers and property from the corner of Church and Queen
streets, in the city of Norfolk, to a point in Brambleton near
the eastern branch of the Elizabeth river: provided, that the
consent of the councils of the city of Norfolk be first obtained
to the use of Queen strect in said city: and provided, that
the consent of the county court of Norfolk county be first
obtained to the use of such part of the county road as may
be required.
2. The maximum capital stock of said company shall not
exceed thirty thousand dollars, and the minimum shall be
eight thousand dollars.
3. William S. Wilkinson, Orlando Windsor and Francis
Richardson are hereby appointed commissioners to receive
subscriptions to the capital stock, and to call a meeting of
subscribers for organization in accordance with the provisions
of the Code of Virginia of eighteen hundred and seventy-
three, in regard to chartered companies.
4, The said company may acquire land in payment of sub-
scriptions or by donation, and may sell, lease, or otherwise
dispose of the same.
5. The fare on said road shall not exceed seven cents for
each person each way. .
6. This act shall be in force from its passage.
