Chap. 206.—An ACT to incorporate the Riverside shooting club.
Approved March 21, 1877.
1. Be it enacted by the gencral assembly, That Alexander
Q. Holladay, Gustavus G. Carter, Abram Warwick, Goorge S.
Palmer, junior, David M. Hanes, John W. Pierce, M. F. Bur-
ton, and such other persons as are now associated as the Ri-
verside shooting club of old Virginia, or may be hereafter
associated with them, are hereby constituted a body corpo-
rate, by the name of The Riverside Shooting Club of the Old
Dominion, in the city of Richmond or county of Henrico, for’
the purpose of promoting lawful shooting and fishing, and
preserving and enforcing the game laws of the commonwealth
of Virginia; and with officers to manage the affairs of the
company for, the first year, as follows: President, Alexander
Q. Holladay; vice-president, Gustavus G. Carter; secretary,
John W. Pierce; treasurer, M. F. Burton; all residents of the
county of Henrico and city of Richmond.
2. Phe said corporation shall have power to make and
adopt a constitution and by-laws, rules and regulations, for
the admission and expulsion of its members, and their gov-
ornment, the election of its officers, and to define their duties,
and for the safe-kecping and protection of its property and
funds; and from time to time to alter or repeal such consti-
tution, by-laws, rules and regulations: provided, the same be
not inconsistent with the constitution of the United States,
and of the state of Virginia.
3. The said corporation may purchase and hold, or lease,
any real or personal estate: provided, they shall not hold
more than one Louse and lot in the city of Richmond, nor
more than one thousand acres each, of land or marsh in the
countics.of the commonwealth.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage; and shall be
subject to the revocation, alteration, or amendment of the
general assembly of Virginia.
