Chap. 180.—An ACT for the relief of Charles H. Marmaduke, late
Collector of Potomac Township, in the County of King George, and
his sureties.
Approved March £0, 1877.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That authority
be given to the anditor of public accounts to suspend the col-
lection of a judgment in the name of the commonwealth
against Charles H. Marmaduke, late collector of Potomac
township, King George county, and James T. Deatly, Augus-
tin McClanahan, junior, Benjamin F. Price, William B. K.
Price, and H. C. Purkins, his sureties, obtained in the county
court of said county, for the period not exceeding two years;
and said sum to be paid in four semi-annual instalments: pro-
vided, that the assent of the securities, in writing, shall be
first obtained by the auditor of public accounts; but nothing
herein contained, shall be construed to probibit the auditor
from collecting the debt whenever he may think proper to
do so.
2. The auditor of public accounts is authorized, and hereby
required, upon a settlement of the aforesaid judgment, to re-
ceive from said sureties, in discharge of said judgment against
said sureties, payment of the principal, legal interest, costs
and expenses of collection, abating therefrom the damages
which have been awarded from said default, in case the con-
ditions of this bill are fully complied with.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
