Chap. 18.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section twelve of chapter
seventy-eight of the Code of 1873, in relation to county superinten-
dents of schools.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That section
twelve of chapter seventy-eight of the Code of eighteen
hundred and seventy-three, be amended and re-enacted so as
to read as follows :
§ 12. There shall be appointed for every county, in the
manner provided for in article eight of the constitution, one
superintendent of schools. The regular term of office for
such superintendents shall be four years from the first day
of July next succeeding their appointments, and, in case of
vacancies, they shall discharge the duties of their respective
offices from their first appointment and qualification, under
the constitution, until their terms begin; and the term of
office of superintendents heretofore appointed and confirmed,
shall expire at the expiration of the time for which they
were respectively appointed.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
