Chap. 179.—An ACT to authorize the investment of moneys belonging
to the Lee Monument Association in state bonds.
Approved March 20, 1877.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
lawful for the board of managers of the Lee monument asso-
ciation, from time to time, to invest all or any sums, which
may be collected by or donated to the said association, for
the purposes thereof, in the consol bonds of this common-
wealth, with coupons attached receivable for taxes, which, on
the application of the said board of managers, the treasurer
of the commonwealth is hereby directed to convert into re-
gistered bonds, payable to the Lee monument association,
bearing interest at the rate of six per contum per annum,
payable semi-annually, out of any money in the treasury not
otherwise appropriated.
2. It shall be lawful for the treasurer of the commonwealth,
from time to time, to transfer the said registered bonds, as he
may thereto be requested by the board of managers of the
said association, certified in writing under the band of their
secretary and the seal of the association; provided that such
transfee shall not be ordered, except in fulfilment of some
contract made towards the execution of the trust imposed by
the act of incorporation.
3. The board of managers of the Lec monument associa-
tion shall continuc, as now organized, to be composed, ex-
officio, of the governor of the s‘ate, the treasurer of the com-
monwealth, and the auditor of public accounts, with full
power to exercise and perform all the functions granted to
the original corporators in the act of incorporation.
4. All monies, bonds, and properties belonging to or bere-
after to be acquired by the Lee monument association, shall
be exempt, so long as the same shail continue the property
thereof, from all taxation—state, county, or municipal.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
