Chap. 154.—An ACT authorizing the commissioners of the sinking
. fund, at their discretion, to sell such interest coupons as have been or
may hereafter be received by them.

Whereas doubts exist as to the power of the commissioners
of the sinking fund to sell such interest coupons as have been
or may hereafter be received by them, in pursuance of the
second section of the act approved March thirtieth, eighteen
hundred and seventy-one, entitled an act to provide for the
fanding and payment of the public debt; and of the second
section of the act approved March thirty-first, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-five, entitled an act to consolidate, re-
establish, and regulate the sinking fund of the state of Vir-
ginia; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the commissioners of the sinking fund be, and are hereby
authorized and empowered, at their discretion, to sell all suc
coupons, and invest the proceeds in bonds of the state of
Virginia, giving the preference to that class of bonds which
can be bought at the lowest rates.
