Chap. 144.—An ACT for the relief of William K. Alexander.
Approved March 13, 1877.
Whereas it appears to the general assembly that a judg-
ment was rendered in the county court of Halifax county
against William K. Alexander, upon a forfeited recognizance,
entered into by him in the sum of two hundred dollars, and
that his failure to attend in accordance with said recognizance
was caused by: a mistake as to the legal obligation upon him,
and from no intent to avoid it, and that he afterwards volun-
tarily appeared for trial and was convicted, and that the en-
forcement of said judgment under the circumstances would
be barsh and unjust:
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That upon the
payment by the said Willian K. Alexander of the costs of
said judgment, he shall be, and is hereby released from the
payment of the two hundred dollars stipulated in said recog-
nizapce, and exonerated from the payment thereof.
2. This act shal! be in force from its passage.
