Chap. 141.—An ACT authorizing the commissioners of the sinking
fund to fund certain sterling stock.

Whereas it is represented that the commissioners of the
sinking fund hold sterling five per centum Virginia debt, re-
ceived from the Orange and Alexandria railroad company in
settlement of their indebtedness to the state, amounting to
two hundred and forty-five pounds sterling, which, in its
present form, is not available to the said fund without incon-
venience and a sacrifice ia its value:
l. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That authority
ishereby given to the commissioners of the sinking fund to
fand the said debt, estimating it at five dollars in currency to
the pound sterling, upon the principles of the funding act of
March thirtieth, eighteen hundred and seventy-one, amended
by the act of March seventh, eighteen hundred and seventy-
two, and that bonds and certificates for the same be issued
as of July, eighteen hundred and seventy-one, in the name
of said commissioners.
2. This act shall be in force from ita passage.
