Chap. 104.—An ACT for the relicf of James E. Chism.
Approved February 26, 1877.
Whereas it appears to the general assembly, That James
FE. Chism, of the county of Halifax, entered into a recogni-
ance in the penalty of one hundred dollars for the appear-
ance of a certain John F. Brown, to answer a bill of indict-
ment; and whereas the grand jury, at the term to which he
was recognized, did’ not find a true bill against the said
Brown, nor at any time thereafter, and a judgment was
entered in the county court of Halifax county againt the
said Chism, for the sum of one hundred dollars, as upon a
forfeited recognizance; and that it would be just and equita-
ble to relieve the said Chism from the enforcement of said
judgment,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That upon the
payment by the said James E. Chism of the costs of said
judgment, be shall be, and he is hereby, released from the
payment of the one hundred dollars stipulated in said recopy-
nizance, and exonerated from the payment thereof.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
