Chap. 89. —An ACT to authorize the School Trustees of Brookland
District, Henrico County, to establish a Collegiate Department in
connection with Brook High School. |

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
for the purpose of enlarging the scope and increasing the
efficiency of Brook high school, located in Henrico county,
Virginia, the district board of school trustees, having said
school in charge, are hereby authorized and empowered to
enter into any arrangements that may be by them deemed
desirable and necessary, with any responsible and competent
teacher or teachers, for adding to the said school, as already
established, a collegiate department, open to any pupil from
any locality who may be prepared to enter the same, upon
the payment of such charges as "may be fixed by said board
and the principal of said school: provided, that this act shall
in nq wise conflict with the course of instruction now au-
thorized by law for common school branches or studies pur-
sued under the act to encourage intermediate grades of in-
struction in public schools, approved March twenty-five,
eighteen hundred and seventy-five: and provided further,
that no part of the public school funds shall be appropriated
for the maintenance of the advanced course herein contem-
plated.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
