Chap. 76.—An ACT to authorize the Trustees of the Third Street Afri-
can Methodist Episcopal Church to Borrow Money, and execute a
Deed of Trust to secure the payment of the same.
Approved February 17, 1876.
Whereas it is represented by the trustees of the Third-
Street African Methodist Episcopal church of the city of
Richmond, that a debt has been contracted for the building
and repairing of their house of worship in said city, and
that they are desirous of paying or securing the payment
of the same: therefore, ;
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
lawful for Richard Forrester, Thomas Heulett, William Wil-
liamson, Peter H. Woolfolk, and Thomas Nelson, or a ma-
jority of them, the legally constituted trustees, of said Third
Street Atrican Methodist Episcopal church, to borrow a sum
of money not exceeding eight thousand dollars—said sum to
be borrowed in such amounts and at such times as they may
deem proper, for the purpose of paying whatever indebted-
ness may exist for building or repairing said house of wor-
ship. And the said trustees, or a majority of them, may
execute a deed of trust on the said house and the property
‘on which it is erected, to secure the payment of such sum or
sums of money as may be borrowed under the provisions of:
this act.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
