Chap. 254.—An ACT for the relief of the Sureties of A. F. Creel, late
Collector for Marshall Township, in the County of Fauquier.
Approved March 29, 1876.
Whereas A. F. Creel, late collector for Marshall township,
in the county of Fauquier, state of Virginia, on aceount of
the pecuniary embarrassment of the people of said township,
has fallen into arrears in collecting and paying over the taxes
of said township% and whereas judgment has been obtained
against the said Creel and his sureties for the sum of four
thousand and twenty-four dollars and eichty-five cents, with
interest thereon at the rate of ten per centum per annum,
and costs; and whereas a large portion of this judgment has
been paid off, and the parties desire an extension of time, to
enable them to pay off the balance; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the audi-
tor of public accounts be and is hereby authorized to extend
the time for enforcing the judgment aforesaid and collecting
the balance due thereon, for twelve months from the date of
the passage of this act.
2. That if the said sureties shall, on or before the expira-
tion of the period aforesaid, pay off in‘full the said judgment,
principal, legal interest, at the rate of six per centum per
annum, and costs, they are hereby released from all excess of
interest and damages.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
