Chap. 253.—An ACT for the relief of the Sureties of James W. Mode-
sitt, former Sheriff of Page County.
Approved March 29, 1876,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the sureties of James W. Modesitt, former sheriff of Page
county, be and they are hereby released from the payment of
the sum of four hundred and fifty-six dollars and seventy-
three cents, damages on a judgment in favor of the common-
wealth against them as sureties, rendered by the circuit court.
of the city of Richmond, for the sum of three thousand and
forty-four dollars and ninety-eight cents: provided, that this
act shall not be construed as in any way releasing the said
James W. Modesitt from the payment of any damages awarded
againat him.
"2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
