Chap. 202.—An ACT to amend the Charter of the Town of Lebanon,.
Ruszell County.
Approved March 27, 1876.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section nine of an act passed February twenty-first, eighteen
hundred and seventy-three, entitled an act to incorporate the
town of Lebanon, in Russell county, be amended and re-en-
acted as follows: ‘
~ §9. Whenever anything for which a state license is re-
quired, is to be done within the limits of the said town, the
council may require a town license to be had for doing the same,
and may impose a tax thereon for the use of the town. The
revenue from those and other sources shall be collected, paid
over and accounted for at such times and to such persons as
the council may order: provided, tbat it shall be lawful for
the qualified voters within the corporate limits of said town,
to decide by vote at a special election, to be hald for that
purpose, on the fourth Tuesday in April, eighteen hundred
and seventy-six, and annually thereafter, the question of li-
cense or no license to sell ardent spirits in the town of Leba-
non, or within one mile of the corporate limits thereof, either
in connection with an ordinary or otherwise, and should a
majority vote against license, no such license shall be granted
for the ensuing twe've months, by any person or persons
having the authority to grant licenses.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
