Chap. 188.—An ACT to amend an act.entitled an act to Incorporate a
Company to Construct, on the Plan of James 8S. French, a Railroad
between Alexandria and Washington City, passed February twenty-
seventh, eighteen hundred and fifty-four.
Approved March 27, 1876.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
lawful for the Alexandria and Washington railroad company
to construct, maintain and operate its road within the cor-
porate limita of the city of Alexandria, and to establish its
terminus at any point within said limits, subject to all the
existing provisions of law respecting the construction, main-
tenance and operation of railroads within the corporate
limits of towns and cities: provided, however, that the suid
railroad company shall not have the benefit of this act until
damages to property-holders on Saint Asaph street from city
limits on the north, to the terminus of said road on ‘said
street, shall have been agreed upon and paid, or assessed and
paid into eourt, as provitled by law: and provided further,
that said company shall not have the benefit of this act until
it shall by its stockholders, in special or general meeting
assembled, agree to so regulate its charges upon passengers,
as to allow tick@s that are receivable upon local trains,
receivable also upon all through trains over said Alexandria
and Washington railroad, and that all freight brought into
the city of Alexandria by said company shall be delivered
only at such point upon said road as the city council of Alex-
andria may designate. This provision, when aggped to, shall
thenceforth constitute an amendment of the charter of said
company. ,
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
