Chap. 181.—An ACT to Provide for the Registration of the Voters of
Wise County.
%
Approved March 27, 1876,
Whereas the registration books for the county of Wise
have become so much defaced and mutilated by use as to
render the elections held in that county irregular and uncer-
tain; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
the duty of the county court of Wise county, within sixty
days after the passage of this act, to order the registration
books of the said county to be transcribed by the registrars,
or, in its discretion, to order a new registration of the quali-
fied voters of the county, which shall be in accordance with
the general registration laws of the state. The registrars
shall receive for their services under this act such sum as
the court may deem reasonable, not to exceed the.fees now
paid for similar.services, which shall be paid out of the county
treasury, and the copies or registration so made shall have
the same force, virtue, and effect as though the same had
been under the general registration laws of the state.
- 2. The secretary of the commonwealth shall furnish the
clerk of the county court of Wise county so many registra-
tion books as may be necessary to carry out the provisions
of this act.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
