Chap. 172.—An ACT to provide for the Election or Appointment of
additional District Officers.
Approved March 27, 1876.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the county
judge of any county in the state may enter of record that
the public service requires, in any magisterial district of his
couuty, an additional number of justices of the peace or con-
stables, to those provided for in section two of article seven
of the constitution, to be specified in said order; and notice
thereof shall be published in such district, and at the next
succeeding general election of county officers, such additional
officers shall be elected in the mode provided for the election
of officers under said article of the constitution; and until the
next general election after such order shall have been made,
it shall be lawful for the county judge to appoint such addi-
tional officers, who shall qualify and give bund in the mode
provided by law for such officers.
2. The said judge may, in his discretion, revoke the order
requiring such additional officers, such revocation to take
effect on the expiration of the term of such officers.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
