Chap. 157.—An ACT to amend and re-enact the third section of chap-
ter eighty-nine of the Act of General Assembly, eighteen hundred
and seventy-three, to authorize the Board of Supervisors for Wythe
County to Contract for Keeping in Repair Certain Public Roads in
said County.
Approved March 18, 1876.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the third section of chapter eighty-nine of the act of the
general assembly, to authorize the board of supervisors for
Wythe county to contract for keeping in repair certain public
roads in said county, approved February seventeenth, eighteen
hundred and seventy-three, be amended and re-enacted so as
to read as follows:
§ 3. Any contractor or other person employed to receive
tolls under this act, shall have the same remedies against per-
sons who fail or refuse to pay the tolls legally charged against
them, that were provided by law in behalf of the companies,
which formerly owned said roads: provided however, that no
resident of the counties of Grayson or Carroll shall be subject
to the payment of any such tolls upon any road leading from
the said counties of Grayson or Carroll to the Atlantic, Mis-
sissippi and Ohio railroad, within the limits of the county of
Wythe, nor while the said counties of Grayson or Carroll
shall keep up their public roads in the manner now prescribed
by law. ;
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
