Chap. 15.—An ACT to amend the charter of the Battersea Manufac-
turing Company, in the City of Petersburg.
Approved January 26, 1876. ®
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the char-
‘ter of the Battersea manufacturing company, in the city of
Petersburg, shall be and is hereby extended so as to con- .
tinue in full force till amended or repealed by future act of
assembly; and the said company is hereby invested with all
the rights, privileges and powers, and subjected to all the
rules, regulations and restrictions prescribed by the Code of
Virginia in relation to such bodies politic and corporate, so
far as the same are applicable thereto, and of any future laws
which may be passed to alter or modify the same, so far as
they are applicable: provided, that nothing in this act shall
be considered as in any wise abridging or interfering with
any right of the Upper Appomattox company guaranteed to
said Upper Appomattox company under its charter, or by
any amendments thereto, whether heretofore or hereafter
granted. :
2. Section thirty-eight, chapter fifty-seven, Code of eigh-
teen hundred and seventy-three, so far it fixes thirty years
as the time during which an act of incorporation of a manu-
facturing company shall be in force, shall not apply to the
Battersea manufacturing company, in the city of Petersburg.
_ 3. This act shall be in force from its passage, and shall be
subject to amendment, alteration, modification or repeal at
the pleasure of the general assembly.
