Chap. 138.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act for the Relief of
the Securities of Thomas L. Jones, late collector of Beaver Dam
Township, Hanover county. .
Approved March 17, 1876.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the trea-
surer of Hanover county be and is hereby authorized and
required, upon the settlement of the judgments for state and
county taxes, in the name of the commonwealth of Virginia,
against Thomas L. Jones, late collector of Beaver Dam
Township, in the county of Hanover, and Mathew A. Hope,
Thomas P. Carver, David G. Jones, and David L. Jones, his
sureties, to receive from said sureties in discharge of said
judgments, the payment of the principal, legal interest and
costs of collection, abating therefrom the damages which
have been awarded for said default: provided, that nothing
herein contained shall be construed as relieving the said
Thomas L. Jones from the payment of any portion of said
judgments and damages.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
