Chap. 135.—An ACT to incorporate the Clark county Co-operative
Mercantile Company.
; Approved March 17, 1876.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
J.P. Smith, R. D. Hardesty, R. O. Allen, James A. Foster,
Nathaniel Burwell, and P. McCormick, Junior, together with
such other persons as may be associated with them, be and
they are hereby declared to be a body politic and corporate,
under the name and style of The Clarke County Co-operative
Mercantile Company, for the purpose of conducting a general
mercantile business in the town of Berryville.
2. The capital stock of said company to be not less than
two thousand nor more than six thousand dollars in shares
of twenty-five dollars each, und the amount of real estate to
be acquired shall not exceed five acres.
3. The officers of the company shall be a president, five
directors, secretary and treasurer—the secretary to be one of
the five directors® and the principal place of business of said
company is to be in the town of Berryville, Clarke county,
Virginia.
4, The company shall have authority to make such by-
laws and regulations as may be necessary for its management
and government.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
