Chap. 99.—An ACT to Provide for the Payment of the Indebtedness
of Harrisonburg Township, in the County of Rockingham.
Approved March 14, 1874.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
lawful for the township board of Central township, in the
county of Rockingham, to ascertain the amount of indebted-
ness of Harrisonburg township, in said county, creatéd prior
to the change made in the townships of said county in the
year eighteen hundred and seventy-two, and still remainin
unpaid; and, when so ascertained, it shall be lawful for sai
board, and they are hereby empowered and directed to levy
a tax upon the real and personal property within the bounda-
ries of what was Harrisonburg township prior to said change
sufficient to pay off such outstanding indebtedness and the
costs of levying and collecting the same; the said tax to be
levied upon the real and personal property of said, Harrison-
burg township, as aforesaid, as returned by the assessor
thereof for the year eighteen hundred and seventy-two.
2. The tax levied under the provisiong of this act shall be
collected by the present collector of Central township, or
his successor in office, and for his services he shall receive
the same commissions and be liable to the same penalties as
are now provided by law with reference to the collection ot
other township taxes.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
