Chap. 97.—An ACT to Amend and Re-enact the first section of the
Act to Incorporate the Richmond and Henrico Turnpike Company,
approved March 20, 1878.

_ 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the first
‘section of an act entitled an act to incorporate the Richmond
and Henrico Turnpike Company, approved March twentieth,
eighteen hundred and seventy-three, be amended and re-
enacted so as to read as follows:
“$1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That it shall be lawtul to open books, under the direction of
A. S. Storrs, Walter S. Edmond, Isaac Davenport, Jr., W. L.
Salmon, Massena Beazeley, and G. Woodbridge, and such
other person or persons as they may appoint, and at such
time and place as they may select, tor the purpose of receiv-
ing subscriptions to a joint capital stock, not exceeding in
the whole fifteen thousand dollars, to be divided into shares
of one hundred dollars each, for the purpose of constructin
a turnpike road from the limits of the city of Richmond,
near the crossing of Bacon-Quarter creek, on Second street,
below the city almshouse, to Edmond and Davenport's lane,
in the couaty of Henrico, with the privilege of extending it
to Shady-Grove church, in the county of Hanover, and run-
ning a branch of the same to Hazlegrove’s store or Atlee’s
station, in said county; and in making said turnpike this
company shall have authority to use any portion of the road
known as the Meadow-Bridge road, except that portion lying
between Edmond and Davenport’s lane and Richmond city,
upon the condition that said turnpike be constructed as far
as Shady-Grove church, and a branch pike to Hazlegrove’s
store or Atlee’s station.”
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
