Chap. 64.—An ACT to Regulate the Granting of Ordinary and Other
License in Bland and Giles Counties.
Approved February 28, 1874.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That hereafter
any person applying to the county court of Bland or Giles
county, for license to sell wine, ardent spirits, malt liquors,
or any mixture of them, either as an ordinary keeper, keeper
of an eating-house, or asa grocer or merchant, within the
corporate limits of the town of Seddon, or any other incor-
porated town in the county of Bland, or in the town of
Pearisburg, or the town of Newport, in the county of Giles,
or within one mile of either of: said towns, shall, in addition
to the other requirements of laW, produce before said court
a certificate of the town council of the town in which the
said privilege is desired, that the applicant is a suitable per-
son, and that no good reason is known to raid council why
such license shall not be granted, and the court shall not
grant any license for any such purpose, within the limits
above prescribed, until and unless such certificate be furnished.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
