Chap. 357.—An ACT to incorporate the Marion High School.
Approved April 80, 1874.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That D. D. Hull, s
J. W. Fell, J. P. Sheffey, F. Alexander, V. S. Morgan, C. F. ®
Lincoln and W. C. Sexton, and their successors, be and they
are hereby constituted a body politic and corporate, under
the name and style of The Trustees of the Marion High
School, and by that name shall have perpetual succession and
@ common seal; and may sue and be sued, plead and be im-c
pleaded in any court of law or equity, and shall be capable °
in law to receive, hold and dispose of real and personal pro- 5
perty to carry out the purposes of their incorporation, in”
conformity to a deed of conveyance executed by N. L. Look
and others, on the seventh day of February, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-four, to an amount not exceeding twenty 4
thousand dollars.
2. The board of trustees of this institution shall consist of 2
seven, and shall appoint a president, secretary and treasurer *
of their body, a majority constituting a quorum. ti
3. When there shall be a vacancy in the board of trustees v
occasioned by death, resignation, removal or otherwise, the ”
remaining trustees, or a majority of them, shall, after being
notified by the president or secretary at least thirty days
previously, proceed to supply such vacancy. The trustees 2
shall meg semi-annually, or whenever a majority of their ‘
number shall deem it necessary.

school, and to enforce the payment of any such subscription:

school, who shall have power to select an assistant or assis

Certificates of 7. The principal of the said high school shall have power
distinction to confer such certificates of proficiency and distinction, as
he may think best calculated to promote the cause of edt-

By-laws and 8. The board of trustees may also adopt such laws, rule:

dient, provided they are not contrary to any provision or
provisions of this act, nor are inconsistent with the laws of
this state, or the laws of the United States.

Commencement 10. This act shall be in force from and after its passage.
