Chap. 313.—JOINT RESOLYTION Authorizing the Auditor of Pab-
lic Accounts, at his discretion, to suspend Legal Proceedings on the
Official Bond of J. M. Phillips, Treasurer of Surry County, so far a3
relates to the sum of $3,198 08, Destroyed by Fire in his Dwelling
and Storehouse.
Approved April 30, 1874.
Whereas, on the night of twenty-first April, the dwelling
and storehovse of J. M. Phillips, treasurer of Surry county,
with the contents of said buildings consisting of goods and
books, and collected funds belonging to the commonwealth,
amounting to three thousand one hundred and ninety-eight
dollars and eight cents, in*currency, coupons, and so forth,
were destroyed by fire: therefore,
Be it resolved (the house of delegates concurring), That
rend the auditor of public accounts may, at his discretion, suspend

legal proceedings on the official bond of said Phillips so tar
as relates to said sum above mentioned, until first January,
eighteen hundred and seventy-five: provided, however, that
this resolution shall not go into effect until the consent of the
sureties of said Phillips, on his official bond shalt be filed for
record, with the clerk of the county court of Surry county,
and a copy of such consent is forwarded to the auditor of
public accounts.
