Chap. 298.—An ACT to authorize the Fredericksburg and Gordonsville
Railroad Company to connect with the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad,
at or near Gordonsville, and for other purposes.
Approved April 29, 1874.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the Fred-
ericksburg and Gordonsville railroad company, be and they
are hereby authorized and empowered, after the completion
of their road to Orange courthouse, to construct a branch of
its road from any point on its existing line, west Of Verdiers-
ville, to the Chesapeake and Ohio railroad at Gordonsville,
or within three miles thereof.
2. Be it further enacted, That the said Fredericksburg and
Gordonsville railroad company, in addition to the mortgage
authorized by an act of the general assembly of Virginia, in
force March twenty-sixth, cighteen hundred and seventy-
three, may, and it 1s hereby authorized and émpowered to,
execute and create a second mortgage on its road-bed, fran-
chises, and so forth, securing not more than one hundred and
fifty thousand dollars, evidenced by bonds, bearing interest
at the rate of eight per centum per annum, and to dispose of
the same at less than par.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
