Chap. 250.—An ACT to Provide for working the Public Roads in Prin-
cess Anne, Charles City and New Kent Counties.
Approved April 27, 1874.
1. Be it enacted by.the general gdsembly of Virginia, That §
the board of superyisdrs of Princéss Anne, Charles City and ¢
New Kent counties shall, on the first Monday in July, eigh- .
teen hundred and seventy-four, and every second year there- o
after, by advertising ten days’ previous at each voting pre- *
cinct in said counties, let out by the road district of said
counties under contracts for two years, to the lowest bidder,
the necessary work for keeping the public roads, or any part.

board of supervisors shall reserve to themselves the right to
accept or reject any or all bids, and all bids so aecepted shall
be approved by the county judge.

7. If any contractor of a district or districts shall fail t
rive the required bond and security within five days afte
he contract has been awarded him, the said contract sha
ye deemed null and void; in which case the clerk of the count;
-ourt shall proceed forthwith to advertise such district o
listricts and let them out by contract, as prescribed in th
irst and second sections of this act.
8. Any person desiring to establish a new road or landin.
shall proceed as now prescribed by law.
9. The authority heretofore invested in overseers of road
s hereby invested in contractors of road districts.
10. This act shall be in force from its passage.
