Chap. 209.—An ACT to establish Corporation Courts for the Cities of
Manchester and Winchester.
Approved April 16, 1874,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
there shall be established for the cities of Manchester and
Winchester respectively, a corporation or hustings court, to
‘oath required by law within thirty days after he receives his
commission, said oath to be taken before any justice of the
peace, or any clerk of a court of record.
10. The said court, and the judges thereof, shall have the
same jurisdiction and powers, and shall perform the same *
duties in the summoning and impanneling of grand juries,
and other juries in civil and criminal cases, as are now by
law vested in and imposed upon the circuit and corporation
courts of this commonwealth and the judges thereof.
11. The said hustings courts may, with the consent of the r
proper authoritiegof the counties of Frederick and Chester- *
field, be held in the courthouse of said counties as long as the
said cities shall be the seat of justice of said counties.
12. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this act 5
are hereby repealed.
13. This act shall be in force from its passage. C
