Chap. 110.—An ACT to Incorporate the Westham Granite Company
of Virginia.

WeethamGran- 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
ite Company in- J. Condit Smith, R. Snowden Andrews, Albert Ordway, John
™_ Pickering, and Samuel 8. Green, together with such persons
as they may associate with them, and their successors, be,
and they are hereby incorporated and created a body politic
and corporate, under the name of the Westham Granite
General powers Company of Virginia, and as such shall have perpetual suc-
cession and a common seal, shall sue and be sued, and have
all the rights and privileges which now enure to corporations
under the Code of Virginia.
Capital 2. The capital stock of said corporation shall be three hun-
dred thousand dollars, in shares of one hundred dollars each;
and whenever a majority of the atockholders shall so deter-
mine, it may be increased to any sum not exceeding one mil-
lion of: dollars, likewise divided into shares of one hundred
dollars each.
3. The corporation shall have power to hold land by any

land tenure to an extent not exceeding ten thousand acres; to
quarry, cut, and transport granite, stone, slate, and other y
roductions; to buy and sell merchandize upon obtaining ©
cense therefor, and to transact such other business as they 1
may deem profitable; to construct and operate a railroad ”
from their quarries, in Chesterfield county, to a point on P
James river opposite Rocketts, or to the Richmond and Dan- *
ville railroad; to issue bonds, and to secure the same by P
mortgage on the property of the corporation, or any part >
thereof; to issue preferred stock; to issue bonds secured b
mortgage convertible into preferred stock, or preferred stock p
convertible into bonds secured by mortgage; and to exercise
all powers necessary to the enjoyment of the franchises and
privileges herein granted:
