Chap. 83.—An ACT incorporating The Trustees of the Diocesan Mis-
sionary Society.
Approved February 5, 1875.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
John Johns, F. M. Whittle, George Woodbridge, William
Norwood, Joshua Peterkin, Charles Minnegerode, C. J. Gib-
son, T. G. Deshields, W. Q. Hyland, William F. Gray, David
N. Walker, A. T. Laidly, and their successors, be and they’
are hereby constituted a body politic and corporate, by the
name and style of The Trustees of the Diocesan Missionary
Society of Virginia, and by that name shall have perpetual
succession and a common seal, may sue and be sued, plead.
and be impleaded; and for uses of said Diocesan Missionary
Society, may receive and acquire, by purchase, gift or other-
wise, money, or other personal property or estate: provided,
that the estate so acquired shall not exceed two hundred
thousand dollars.
2. A majority of said trustees Shall constitute’ a quorum
for the transaction of business. Any vacancy in their num-
ber, caused by death, resignation, removal from the state or
other disability, sball be filled by a vote of the board. The
board of trustees shall have power to make such by-laws
and regulations for the government of the corporation as
they may decide to be proper: provided, that such by-laws
be not contrary to the laws of this state or of the United
States: provided further, that this act shall be subject to
amendment, alteration, modification or repeal at the pleasure
of the general assembly.
3. This act shall be in force fiom its passage.
